Ruth Bothwell has over thirty years experience in decorative arts and painting conservation and runs Decowell in Belfast. She trained at the Institute Superior de Peinture Van der Kelen in Brussels, prior to qualifying in Painting Conservation in London, and studying Historic Building Conservation at York. She’s also a cottage owner herself, and understands the dilemmas of keeping small old Irish buildings going in our climate on a budget!
Ruth was joined by 28 Cottageologists on Thursday 27 November 2025 to give us the benefit of her experience and answer our questions.
