This privacy policy explains how we use any personal information we collect about you when you use this website.

What information do we collect about you?

We collect information about you when you add a comment or upload content to the website (e.g. add text and photos). The information we collect is your name and e-mail address.

If you make a donation to Cottageology, we may also collect phone number, credit/debit card details and any other details as might be requested from you for the purpose of registration and/or continued use of our services. We may also collect information from you if you request information or customer support.

How will we use the information about you?

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

Comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

We collect information about you so that our website editors can contact you about your comment or contribution if necessary. We may publish your name on the website alongside the comment or contribution. We will not publish your e-mail address.

Newsletter

When you signup to our newsletter, we request your first name and your email address so we can send you news, updates and materials that we feel are of benefit to our clients and audience.

We do not share data with any third parties and you will always be able to unsubscribe easily, using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every newsletter email.  You can easily opt out of our Mailchimp by clicking unsubscribe in the footer of any of our emails.  

We use Mailchimp as our email newsletter provider.  Mailchimp are fully GDPR compliant and committed to robust privacy policies which you can read all about on their their page About MailChimp, the EU/Swiss Privacy Shield, and the GDPR

PLEASE NOTE that if a Guardians scheme for owners of traditionally constructed buildings is ever instituted, although we will ask your permission first, we will assume that you are interested in such a scheme and if it is state-run we plan to pass on your contact details so that if you wish you can join.

How long will we keep the information about you?

Because we aim to preserve the content of the website as a historical archive, this information will be stored indefinitely, alongside the comment or contribution you have submitted.
